Esencia Samy Styling Mousse (HG)

Finally, I've found the volumizing mousse that works well for my hair!!
About a couple of weeks ago, I saw this product at Fred Meyer, for $7.99. It caught my attention because there was not much of this product left on the shelf. Only 2 bottles left. I ended up purchasing one of them. I am a sucker for almost-sold-out products.

Esencia Styling Mousse
$6.99-$8.49

Information from the website:

STYLING MOUSSE
adds volume, eliminates frizz

pomegranate, marshmallow & yarrow
Experience E•sen•cia Styling Mousse with the essence of Pomegranate to invigorate the scalp and hair, Yarrow which provides rich conditioning and Marshmallow to create weightless volume & shine. These ingredients, infused with an array of other key botanicals & extracts, combine to create a gentle formula that delivers beautiful results with every use.

Usage: Apply a small amount into palm. Rub hands together and distribute through damp hair from roots to ends. Blow dry and style as desired. For best results use in conjunction with other E•sen•cia natural products.

I was devastated when Frederick Fekkai Full Volume Mousse has been discontinued. It was my HG volumizing mousse! This hair product gives the same result as the Fekkai. It adds volume, makes my hair feels light and fluffy. I love it!! I also love that it's made of natural ingredients too.

I came back to the store the following week and bought the last bottle on the shelf. Lucky nobody bought it.
I couldn't find this product online, except on the esencia website and on eBay. I wonder if it's discontinued too.
Yesterday, I went to Rite Aid, and saw this product on the clearance section. Everything on the table was 50% off. One bottle originally costs $8.49. I ended up buying 2 more. LOL

I apply a small amount into palm. I pump it out 3 times. since I've long hair. The mousse is very light, similar to soap lather. I first apply it to the roots and then to the rest of my hair. I then blow dry my hair upside down.

Pros:
- Adds volume, makes hair light and fluffy.
- It doesn't make hair feel greasy.

Cons:
- It smells kinda weird. I guess it's from the pomegranate and marshmallow, and the yarrow too, maybe? .... I don't know what "yarrow" smells like LOL. But, after third application, the smell doesn't bother me anymore.
- It's probably a discontinued product.

Urban Outfitters Haul (Updated 3/24)

Got a sale notification email from Urban Outfitters some time last week... I shouldn't have clicked it... I ended up buying a couple of things... haha...

Tropical Wood Ring Holder - $4.99
Deux Lux Twist Bag - $19.99

I really like this ring holder. It's cute!
I put this ring holder bowl on my kitchen countertop.
I usually take off my rings when I'm cooking and put them on a random place without realizing it. With this bowl, I won't misplace my jewelries anymore. ☺

I'm actually in the process of saving money to buy a specific handbag. Agh!
But this bag is just TOO cool. I love the "knot" design.
It comes with a dust bag.
The imitation leather is nice quality and soft too.
It has a snap button closure.
Inside, 1 zippered pocket and 2 open pockets.
A few previous customers complain about the size, it's too big. I'm 5'5" tall. It doesn't seem too big for me. I like the size! It's a perfect size for carrying books, for traveling, or even for shopping.

Update:
Okay! I just transferred my junk into this bag. Man, this bag IS huge. I barely can see my stuff at the bottom of the bag! LOL

VS Haul and Dry Shampoo

Happy Saturday!!

Last week, VS had a free shipping code, so I used that chance to order something cheap online, just to get their Secret Reward Card.

Top: $6.99
Lacy Thong ($16 value): Free
PINK Dog: $3

The PINK dog, I bought it from a Soompi member. I collect them. ☺
The top is really nice, I wish I got the blue one too.
The panty is free because I have a VS Angel card. In the month of March, the panty is free with any purchase.

❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

On Friday, the weather was very nice, 70 F.
My office was really warm, which made my scalp and hair felt really oily and gross. At the time, I wish I had a dry shampoo to make my hair felt fresh again. My friend awhile ago showed me this product. I hesitated to buy one at the time. Last night, my friend and I decided to ordered them. We split the shipping cost.

It got very good reviews everywhere. You can read a bunch on Urban Outfitters site too. I bought it from this site. I hope it'd work on me as well *cross fingers*

The All Nighter™ Styling Powder (dark brown/black) - $18 + $6 s/h

Monday, March 15, 2010

Another weekend, another damage..

I went to VS on Saturday to redeem the $10 v-neck dress coupon on Saturday. I'd been waiting since Tuesday for this! The t-shirt dress is made of a very soft and comfy cotton. I think it's more suitable as a swim cover-up though. I also got one Secret Reward gift card too.

❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

My original plan was just to go straight home after I purchased the VS dress...... but of course, I made a detour first. I went to MAC and checked out their Paints. But before I did that, I read some reviews and checked out the prices on eBay with my iPhone, at the seating area outside the store. LOL
Reviews looked good and the Paints looked pricier on eBay, so I decided to just purchase it in store instead. heheh ^_^"
At first, I wanted to get the tube kind, the Bare Canvas. But the SA said the one in the pot was better, it would last longer. The result from both looked similar, both had same price, so I went with the pot one instead.

MAC Paint Pot - $16.50

The MAC staff was right, this pot will really last forever. The product is solid, so I wont accidentally swipe too much . I really like the subtle shimmery champagne color. I usually use the UDPP Sin as a base, but the champagne shade is too strong and it's too shimmery. I like this one better. It completely brings out the shadows and really makes them appear brighter and more vibrant. It also helped stop creasing along with Urban Decay primer potion

❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

So, after MAC, I walked back to Macy's. I parked my car at Macy's parking lot .... but, of course, I made another detour, to Macy's shoes section. Hahah. *sigh* (.__.). It's because on the Soompi forum, the "What Did You Buy Today?" thread, someone said Macy's was having 75% boots sale. Unfortunately, the boots selections were crappy. Majority of them were boots size 8 and bigger.

I found a couple of pairs of shoes on their 50%-75% clearance racks though.

Madden Girl - $12.75 (after 75% off)

These flats are really cute and comfy !! Strangely, they run small. I usually wear size 6, these flats are size 7. This is the first time I wear shoes size 7!

Then, I tried on these clogs. I'm not a clogs person. They are sooooo comfortable, with very thickly cushioned footbed. I like the heels design too, they don't like those clogs with chunky/fat heels.

Born - $45 (after 50% off)

While trying them out, I used my iPhone to read reviews of these clogs, again. hahah...
I wasn't sure if I should get them, because they are still kinda expensive even after the discount. I couldn't find reviews of these specific clogs. So, I read the general reviews on this brand on Zappos instead. Pretty great reviews, 4-5 stars out of 5. So, I decided to get them. I'm glad I bought them. They are soooo comfortable!
Once I wear them with bootcut jeans, they don't look like clogs anymore. ☺

❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Then today, I picked up my Kohls order at the UPS Store. It's a maxi dress!

Apt.9 Paisley Maxi Dress - $12.60 (Orig. $40)

I love that it's made of 100% cotton. The skirt part is slightly puffy because it's lined. The paisley-print is really pretty. I love the color combination.
One thing I don't like about the dress, just like other summer dresses, the bust part is too low-cut and not enough coverage for my bust size.
I don't want to return it, since it's only $13 !! So I'm planning to alter it, maybe add dark green wide satin ribbon trim on the "V" part, or sew a piece of lace fabric across the bust part.

New Camera + Cardigan overload, etc

Hubby bought a new camera !!
He sold our previous 10 MP Canon camera to his coworker and bought this one on Amazon.com, for
$141.xx !!

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W290
12.1 MP Digital Camera
5x Optical Zoom
Super Steady Shot Image Stabilization

I love it!
The Image Stabilization feature makes it so easy to take pictures. The result doesn't look blurry or shaky and great results with or without flash.

❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

I received my Kohls orders yesterday. I ordered these last week during their "30% off + free shipping" deal.

Kohls women clothes run big. Size small equals to size 4/6.

ELLE Smocked Flyaway Cardigan - $12.32

I love the smocked waist!
It is really flattering, it gives the illusion of hour-glass shape body.

Apt. 9 Boyfriend Cardigan - $12.32

First glance, I saw nothing special about cardigan. Then, I read the description, "sequins," and then "O, hello!" I looked at the cardigan more closely. The sequins look really neat. They are not overboard or extremely shiny, like clubbing/party clothes. The shine is very subtle so it can be worn in daytime.

Tracy M Women's 'Waterfall Cocoon' Cashmere Blend Cardigan - $22.94 shipped

I purchased this cardigan last Monday. Love it !
I bought the size small, so glad it fits!! The cardigan is really soft and warm. The houndstooth is really nice and unique. There are not many open cardigans with designs or patterns out there. ;-)

❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

I bought this on eBay last week. My previous brush was so worn out, it's so rough.

It's $15.98 + free shipping.
I earned instant Bing cashback, for $1.28.
I also earned $0.32 pending eBates cashback. ☺

Clarisonic Delicate Brush - $14.70 shipped

Living Proof Full Thickening Cream review

Per request from a reader (Hi,
J! ☺), I'm writing a review about this product.

Flat, lifeless hair results from each strand being so smooth and fine that it lays quite literally flat, one on top of the other. Full Thickening Cream is a lightweight formula that features Poly Beta Amino Ester-1, a new technology invented by our scientists that creates a micro-pattern of thickening points on each strand. Full creates beautiful, natural fullness and touchable body that lasts throughout the day. Because it's a completely flexible technology, your hair won't collapse or become stiff and crunchy. Great for colored hair, too.
Source

This product comes in 2 sizes, 3.4 oz ($24) and 1.8 oz ($14). I bought the small one (blog)

Price/Packaging?
Expensive. The 1.7 oz bottle is a travel-size. It's only around 3 inches tall. This bottle doesn't have the instruction of how to use the product on the back part of the bottle. Only the bigger one has the instruction.

Application?
According to the Living Proof site:
  • short hair = dime-sized
  • long hair = nickle-sized
Note, I always wash my hair at night, before I go to bed.

First time, I tried nickle-sized, as instructed. I dispensed it onto my palm, rubbed my hands together, and then applied it to the roots, working down the hair shaft to the hands. Then, I blow-dried my hair upside down with a big round brush. In the beginning, hair felt soft and bouncy, and hair looked fuller, just slightly. There's no "Whoa! My hair is so full and nice!!" The next day, hair looked flat, like I didn't put any volumizing product at all.
So I thought, maybe I didn't apply enough.

Second try, I applied about a little bit over quarter-sized. I guess it's a little bit too much. It took longer to blow dry. Fullness? It's better (kinda like the Living Proof model's hair) and lasted much longer. Hair didn't stiff or straw-like. But, hair didn't feel as soft as the first attempt and scalp felt a tad greasy.

Conclusion?

It is not worth the money, since the result is nothing special/phenomenal.
The price is pretty steep, $14 for a 3-inch tall bottle. I wash my hair 3 times/week. I can finish that bottle within 1 to 1.5 months.

Maybe this product doesn't work for me because my hair is too long and heavy.
Maybe this product works better on people with shorter and layered hair style.

If you have the money to splurge, go try this product out. Maybe you'll have better luck than me.

If not, I recommend you to try
John Frieda Luxurious Volume Thickening Mousse. It costs around $5-6. It works really well. It gives noticeably and long lasting fullness. Don't apply too much, or your hair will feel stringy and straw-like.

I luv saturday

Another weekend, another splurge!

A package from Kohls arrived today.
I actually ordered the same cardigan 2 weeks ago, but it's too big and it's more expensive too ($17.49) at the time. A week later the price dropped. So, I bought a smaller size and returned the previous one. The size small fits like women size 4/6. It's so soft and comfy.

Apt. 9 Solid Cardigan - $8.91 shipped

I have a couple more cardigans and a maxi dress coming, shipped via FedEx SmartPost. I hate that shipping method. It takes 10 days to arrive!

I also bought this one in-store. ^_^"

ELLE - $13.99

I like Kohls women clothes more than their junior clothes. Their junior clothes quality is crappy, imo.

❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Today (Saturday) was a pretty busy day. Hubby and I went to Portland to attend a dinner party. We left around 11 AM so that we had time to shop and to visit David's Bridal to try out some bridesmaid dresses. One of my sisters are getting married this August. ^__^

First, we visited the Coach Factory store @ Woodburn Company Stores. I had a $10 gift card that I had been wanting to get rid of for awhile. I used it to buy a scarf, to decorate my black Coach tote. I almost bought a $35 wristlet too, but I decided not to because I didn't need one. Heck, I bought one awhile ago, I only used it for a few days, as a makeup bag.

$1.99 (after 50% off + 20% off + $10 gift card)

It's so cool that the sales associate put the scarf in a little pouch. I can use it to keep my others scarves too.

Then, we went to Banana Republic Outlet. I got a sweater. Luv the collar! Hubby bought a dress shirt.

$17.99

❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Then we drove to the mall. We went to Sephora right away, because I wanted to get the Tarina Tarantino bracelet !!

I picked the purple one. I wanted the black one, but the store only had a bunch of the red ones and one purple left. O well, I still love it. It's cute and sturdy. The plastic beads are good quality too.

Living Proof Thickening Cream - $14
Tarina Tarantino bracelet- FREE

We also went to Gap, Hollisters and Abercrombie & Fitch. We didn't get anything though. I was hoping to find something good at Hollisters, because of the 20% off coupon, but I didn't find anything worth to buy. Bummer. O well, it's good for my bank account I guessssss..... !!!

ASOS 20% OFF

ASOS 20% OFF, with code GIFT20

It works on CLEARANCE ITEMS too !!

Credit: Retailmenot

Better use it ASAP, before ASOS fixes the "glitch" just like last time they had this deal.
I was able to use it on clearance items, and then the next day people said the code didn't work on them anymore.

Must resist.. gonna go to the mall this weekend @_@
